Chlorophytum curly – a flower for the busiest florists
It would be interesting to find out how picky about the care of curly chlorophytum. I got this flower by accident. A neighbor in the stairwell moved and handed out her plants. So an adult bush came to me and I don’t understand what to do with it. The work is connected with frequent business trips, sometimes no one is at home for 2-3 weeks. Will he be able to withstand so much without watering?
If you are fond of floriculture and strive to grow useful plants at home, you probably know about chlorophytum. This flower is a natural air purifier, and it is also very decorative, especially curly chlorophytum. The original shape of the leaves with an interesting color and unpretentious character – that’s what they love him for. What is a culture, how it differs from other types of chlorophytum, and is it difficult to care for it?
Curly chlorophytum is the leader in decorativeness and unpretentiousness among indoor plants
Like its relatives, this type of flower grows, forming a lush rosette from long and narrow leaves. However, curly chlorophytum cannot be confused with others: its leaves curl downward. One gets the impression that they are hugging the pot. In an adult specimen, a flowerpot is almost invisible under the dense, arched foliage. In addition, the leaf plate has a contrasting two-color color – alternating green and white longitudinal stripes.
In the spring, long hanging arrows appear from the outlet. Small rosettes form at their tips, and small white flowers bloom among them. However, if the plant likes the conditions of detention, it can bloom in winter..
For the shape of the leaves, this chlorophytum is also called curly. Also known as Bonnie Chlorophytum.
Simple care for chlorophytum
Under natural conditions, in the native African tropics, chlorophytums grow near water bodies and are very fond of moisture. However, as it turned out, they adapt well and can survive in a completely opposite climate. Curly bushes have taken root both at home, and even in our gardens (of course, only for the summer period).
The flower is shade-tolerant and will grow even on a cabinet in the corner of the room. But in order for it to be thick, beautiful and blooming, it is better to put the pot on the east or west windows. A bedside table or a table by the window will also do. The plant is not demanding to the temperature of the content. The main thing is that it does not fall below 10 ° C, otherwise the bush will die.
Chlorophytum care consists of simple procedures:
- Frequent and abundant watering in summer. In winter, the frequency of watering depends on the temperature in the house, but not before the topsoil dries out. However, a persistent handsome man may well do without water and wait for his owner up to 4 weeks, if suddenly it happened.
- Regular spraying of the outlet in summer.
- Top dressing with a mineral complex for ornamental plants from spring to early autumn (2 times a month).
- Annual transplant into a more spacious flowerpot (the bush grows quickly).
Chlorophytum does not need shaping pruning. It is enough to cut off dry and diseased leaves. As for arrows with young rosettes, they can be left or cut off, using for breeding.
